Question: My mom has this itching and breaking out on the back of her neck. She has tried everything. She takes nerve pills, and also has tried allot of over the counter meds for this aggravation. It only breaks out 1,2 or 3 bumps. it drives her nuts. I think she needs to see a specialist, allergist. What can cause that?

Hi,
Thanks for the query.
From your description, what I can gather is that your mother develops swellings over the neck.
Usually these swellings are lymph nodes which get enlarged and become palpable or visible. Most of the times these are because of some infection in the head and neck region and usually subside as the infection goes.
This is a normal occurrence and need not be worried about until and unless these persist for longer periods, keep on increasing in size and cause some additional symptoms.
If the above stated symptoms are there, an FNAC will be required and you need to consult an ENT for that.
The other thing from braking out I can gather is the some eruptions appear on the skin. These can be because of various reasons and diagnosis can be made after visualizing these eruptions.
Feel free to ask another query.
