What Causes Itching In Groin Area?
Question: Over the last couple weeks , my skin on my inner upper thigh , on my butt cheek some and right where my inner thigh meets my private area, seems to itch a lot and if I scratch it a lot , these little red bumps will appear then turn into red blotches , the itching is driving me nuts . In the past whenever I sweated in the summer time I would get this form of I guess heat rash that would form in the same areas , but never itched as bad and never had the heat rash issue in the winter until this itchy skin that I have now , like I said at first no bumps in the itchy area, after I scratch it a lot, these tiny red bumps appear and if I keep scratching they turn into these red & purplish blotches and it still itches
Brief Answer:
Tinea cruris
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
It looks like jock itch or tinea cruris, a kind of fungal infection. This fungus normally stays on the skin always but causing more problems when there is moisture left. Not essentially in summer even other seasons. If you had not thoroughly dried the area after shower it can be a good situation for fungus to thrive.
You can use over the counter antifungal cream with miconazole or clotrimazole in it. You can apply thin over the area twice a day immediately after bath. You can use calamine after two hours of antifungal application, helps control itch.
Alternatively you can use antiallergic tablets available over the counter to control the itch.
I am glad to help you further.
