What Causes Itching In The Head And Throughout The Body?
Question: i have a presciption; levocetirizine 5 mg, for itcy head and back, dermotologist perscribed
what is for, does not help itching, just puts me a sleep, i was told my demogologist
there is nothing for very bad itcing head and body, went o my medical doctor
also, gave a liquid to swallow, does not work. took zyrtec. claritin and benadryl
and prescription medicine, couple different kinds

i read your question and i understand your concern. itching in head scalp and back not responding to over the counter anti histamines needs a detailed clinical correlation, dermatological work up, systemic work up to rule out any systemic cause for the itch. There is a wide array of causes that can cause this itch. It could be eczema, dermatitis, urticaria or hives , it could be some systemic manifestation of a disease, fungal infections, dandruff , ringworms, autoimmune conditions.
I would like you to try low dose hydrocortisone creams or betamethasone creams and see if it helps. Consult a dermatologist and let them help find out any other possible cause. Doxepin in low doses along with topical corticosteroid creams should be tried and see if it helps.
