Question: 3 weeks a go my scrotum turned red, was itching bad, shinny in some parts, pruney to touch and appearance. I am using clotrimazole (thinking was a fungal infection). The itch is gone but not the red and yesterday the left side had a deep red patch with some mild white spots and burned

Brief Answer:
It looks like Contact Dermatitis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for the question.
It looks like Contact dermatitis. A rash that you contract due to the clothes that come in contact with that area. Or sometimes it happens due to excessive sweating in that area which irritates the sensitive skin of that area.
Just wash it clean with water and dab it dry. Don't rub the area with any rough cloth. Change your underwear to one with a softer cloth. It's good that the itching is gone. It would mean that it is on its way to recovery. You could apply Calamine lotion for it to recover faster and keep it away from irritating clothes. It should get releived in 7 to 10 days.
Take care and do let me know if there are any other queries on this issue.
Also do let me know if you feel it's getting worse. You might require an appointment with a Skin Specialist then.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Brief Answer:
You can stop using Clotrimazole.

Detailed Answer:
Hi. Thanks for the reply.
The burning sensation is due to superficial skin abrasion which happens in the Dermatitis. It will get healed up with a fresh layer of skin.
You need not use Clotrimazole cream anymore. It has already done its action as there is no sign of fungal infection anymore.
Take care and wish you a speedy recovery.
