What Causes Itching Sensation On Perineum?

I have been having perineum itching for such a long time. I had been told about 6 months ago that I am allergic to toilet paper and was advised to get 100% cotton diapers to use when going to the bathroom. I am also wearing 100% white cotton panties. I have tried sitz baths with plain water; water with a small amount of vinegar added; water with a small amount of Epsom salts added; water with a small amount of salt added. Using micostatin cream seems to help; however, when the area begins to itch, I cannot resist scratching and sometimes scratch until I begin to bleed. What can I do?
Further diagnostic tests advised as following...
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I am sorry for the situation you are in.
Having perineum itching which is subsided by use of micostatin is indicative for possible fungal infection. Diflucan 150 mg will help destroy the fungus systematically while micostatin cream will fight fungus locally in the perineum.
As you have been having such problems for a long time, I advise to run further blood tests to exclude diabetes. Some of my diabetic patients have discovered to have diabetes only when they got tested for the same problems as you are having now.
Vaginal swab testing is also advised to determine the right causative agent and the most appropriate treatment.
I also advise to get your feces examined for ova/parasites as intestinal parasitic infections are often associated with perineum itching.
For the moment, I advise to:
- continue keeping the same genital hygiene as you are doing now
- take oral probiotics
- apply local probiotic cream too
- avoid sugary foods and/or caffeinated drinks
Hope it was of help!
