What Causes Itchy Breasts And Some Bleeding?

default
Posted on Tue, 2 Jun 2015
Question: Hello, I am a 65 year old woman in reasonable health. Ever since I nursed my children (the youngest in 37) I occasionally have an itching in my nipples. I "milk out" a drop of something that looks like milk. My dr.s have all said this was not a problem. Today, my right nipple stung for only a second, and a drop of blood appeared when I 'milked' my breast. I have had no other symptoms. Is this a problem?

Brief Answer:
It can be a cause of concern.

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am,

Thanks for trusting us about your health care.
I can understand your concerns here.
Usually discharge can occur on squeezing and can be a normal finding.
But if it is persistent, unilateral and associated with pain, you should consult a Gynaecologist and get yourself examined.
There are so many causes of these symptoms ductal papilloma, ductal pappilomatosis, carcinoma in situ and cancer.
So please consult a Gynaecologist and get yourself examined to rule out the caudses.
Hopefully found useful, feel free to ask more.
Good luck.
Regards
