What Causes Itchy Bumps On Scalp, Neck, Jaws, Arms And Groin Area?
Question: I have been suffering from itchy skin, with bumps similar to mosquito bites, on my scalp, neck, jaw, arms, groin and especially bra and panty lines. It was so bad along my bra line (I have been wearing a new sports bra for the past 2 weeks), my side rib cages on both sides are bright red and one big welt mark. I thought it could be something in the elastic of the bra, but why would I have other areas be inflamed. My underwear has been the same for years.
It is only bright red/welts on my bra and panty lines. The rest on my arms, elbows, knees, knuckles torso are mosquito like in nature (skin colored) and the intensity of itch is bad! Itch cream is not working..

I have gone carefully through the descriptions provided by you. You seem to have a fungal infection over the areas which remain sweaty. It is a common ailment. The treatment would be simple. The first stage would be to use topical ointments like Betnovate GM (contains a mild steroid, an antibiotic and an antifungal). Use it only for a week or so. Then switch to Candid (clotrimazole, an antifungal) powder. The former might be more effective but would also make it come back soon. Hence the restriction. Taking some antiallergic like cetirizine for a few days should also help.

I am not exercising though and the area remains very dry in the cold weather. Could it have something to do with the spandex in the bra? However, the underwear I have worn for years. Why would welts and itching be so prevalent there? In other words, what is causing this? Should I throw away my underwear and brand new bra out?

I still think that it could be due to a fungal infection. Although contact dermatitis (with the spandex in the bra) is a possibility, it is unlikely to occur all of a sudden. I would still insist you to try the topical ointment and powder that I suggested, over the affected areas and things should improve. If it is not due to contact dermatitis, you need not throwing away your new underwear.
