What Causes Itchy Dark Patches Under Legs And Thighs?

Intertrigo most probably
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
After reading history and seeing the photo, I could conclude that most probably you may be having intertrigo. The skin of upper thighs ,fold between thighs and scrotum and the part of the scrotal skin might become reddish and then blackish. You may be having irritation, discomfort and itching on affected areas. After continuous rubbing or scratching, affected skin become black and thickened.
Intertrigo may be due to fungus called Candida albicans.Perspiration, soap remnants, excessive bath, friction of thighs during walking, obesity, poor nutrition, poor hygiene, diseases like DM,HIV...etc can trigger the disease. You consult dermatologist to have firm diagnosis and to find out the the triggering condition.
Still, I recommend as follow...
- apply antifungal cream like clotrimazole at night
- sprinkle clotrimazole powder after bath
- take Sitz bath in dettol mixed water tub at bath
- oral antifungal like ketoconazole for two weeks
- antihistaminics like levocetirizine to relieve itching
- take treatment for precipitating disease if found
- take care to improve hygiene and immunity
- skin might become light after perfect treatment, there is no need to take any treatment for skin lightening
- take precaution to avoid relapse of disease
Please discuss about these treatment options with your primary care physician.
I hope this would help you in managing your problem. Still any query, you are welcome.
Thanks.
Wishing you early recovery.
