What Causes Jittery Feeling, Chest Tightness, Joints Pain, Restlessness And Sleeplessness?
Question: For the last few months I haven't been feeling well. Feeling jittery, restless and not sleeping well. Added to that I feel itchy and nervous and constantly feeling like something bad is happening. Blood pressure is good, not losing weight but every so often I feel chest tightness and it's at the same time when I begin to have difficulty breathing through my nose. For a while I didn't even leave my home with fear that I would have a panic attack and faint but have gotten over that phase.
Other physical symptoms are muscle and joint pains with the occasional but constant cold. I get hot flashes and begin to sweat and then when that subsides I feel cold and clammy. I have never ever felt like this. I barely drink and don not smoke. I no longer like the things I used too and its a constant struggle to even leave the house.

Brief Answer:
Vit D deficiency
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query
The history you are giving is suggestive of two endocrine abnormality.
1. Vit D deficiency
It often presents as muscle and joint aches associated with hot flashes. Please get it checked as soon as possible
2. Thyroid dysfunction
People with thyroid disorders often feel nervous, increasingly sweaty also suffer from generalised body ache
Please meet your GP and get these levels checked. I also recommend you to get a full body check up which should include anemia panel, blood sugars, lipid profile and a chest x ray along with ECG
I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
Regards

Hello Dr XXXXXXX
Thank you for getting back to me. A little more background about the symptoms. They began around 4-5months ago, during that time I lost my job and began being a dad full time. I eat a balanced diet, take vitamins but seldomly exercise and I used to be an accomplished athlete. I get worse when I think about how I feel. The only thing that I have been diagnosed with are Vasovagal Syncope, but know that Thyroid problems run in the family but I have never been
diagnosed with them. They tend to run only in the women in my family.
I appreciate your time in answering.
Sincerely, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Lets rule out Thyroid issues
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for getting back to me. Vasovagal syncope is usually an isolated event and does not recur constantly.
Men can get thyroid dysfunction and it is not true that it is confined to women. I would want to rule out organic pathology before labelling your issue as anxiety related.
I am happy you eat a balanced diet. Please try and take a walk for about 30 min a day, it will help in many ways.

Hello Dr.
My Vasovagal episodes are kinda recurring. I've had multiple episodes in the past around 1-2 a year. I will take your advice about walking and willl try to re introduce it to my lifestyle. I think you misunderstood my comment about the Thyroid issue in my family. I just wanted to say only women in my family have the issue, no male member of the family has been diagnosed with any Thyroid issue. Thank you for being thorough and will go see my GP as soon as I can. Do you have any other advice on other things I might need to get checked
thank you!
