What Causes Joint Pain While On Levoquin?

Levaquin and joint pain
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns
You were recently started on Levaquin from an infection. Now you have joint pain which may be a result of taking the Levaquin. The FDA recently sent out a black box warning on giving levaquin to patients older than 50 years old about joint and tendon ruptures. Levaquin should be only used if no other options are available. Now that you have taken it you have hip pain which is a result of the medication. there is nothing we can do to stop the damage of the tendon from the medication. you can use tylenol or ibuprofen to help with the pain. I would recommend rest and if still in pain tomorrow or Monday that you be seen by your medical provider for additional testing and treatment. You may have ruptured a tendon in your hip and need additional treatment.
