What Causes Joint Pains When Diagnosed With Positive ANA?

default
Posted on Tue, 11 Aug 2015
Question: I have had a two year illness with several health issues. I have had a micro vascular decompression for trigeminal neuralgia in January 2015. This relieved the severe pain on the left side of my face, helped me get off of high doses of tegretol. But I still have numbness on the left side of my face and moderately painful headaches. I am being treated for TMJ and wear a mouth appliance at night, this will help lessen the headaches for a week or so and then I have to go back for a readjustment every 2 weeks. This has been occurring for a year. My ANA is positive on my blood work and I've had muscle and joint pain for the past 6 months. My vision is frequently blurry especially when the headache is bad. I am unable to go without naproxen 1000mg daily. My headache never goes away. It leaves me with fatigue and no energy. My doctor doesn't know what do do to help me. I've been told I may have to live with this. Do you have any recommendations or suggestions for me.
Thank you, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
You need further evaluation.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Madam,

Thank you for posting your query on HCM.

Well looking into your problem I would like to tell you that , ANA positivity along with joint pains is an indication that you may be having lupus . You need to get ENA testing done further . Also CPK, Anti ds DNA , Urine r/m needs to be done . Since you are already taking prednisone it will take care of that . Also you may need to be started on hydroxychloroquine , it will relieve your joint pains also and take care of lupus .

You get these tests done and get back to me.

Take care.

I have been told I don't have lupus. My CK was 103. The Dr said I didn't have enough symptoms for Lupus. Who should I ask to see a rheumatoidologist?
