What Causes Joints Pain, Hypersensitive Skin, Leg Cramps And Ongoing Headache?

Question: Hi I think I have a virus I have hardly been able to get out of bed unless I've taken paracetamol. I have been like this for 4 days and was feeling pretty dreadful for the two days leading up to this. My joints ache my skin is hypersensitive so much that it hurts to wear underwear, my left leg feels like it is cramping (although in truth it does that fairly regularly) I've had an ongoing headache although my migraine tablets (sumatriptan) relieve that. I have vomited on night and feel short of breath but not wheezy. I am 58, a female working full time, weigh 62kg and, when I'm well I exercise daily - running, walking, cardio etc.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir,
Thanks for writing in to us at hcm.
This is Dr.Riyanka and I am glad to be helping you with your query.

You are most likely having viral fever/ flu.
Viral infections are self limiting and need one week to ten days to get alright.
Hence you need lots of rest. Drink plenty of fluids to maintain hydration .

Also it is important to consult a physician . Blood tests like a Complete blood count and Urine analysis/Microscopy shall be useful. In many viral infections If the platelet count becomes less then it becomes a matter of concern.

To prevent secondary infections you can consult your physician for antibiotics like Amoxycillin 500mg thrice daily for 5 days.

Hope this answers your query. Don't worry .

Do write back if you have any further doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Riyanka
