What Causes Knee Numbness Post Bursectomy?
I just had arthroscopic piriformis release surgery and ahip bursectomy. Since then my knee is numb and why when I scratch the inside of it, it tingles on the outside. Also since then, I have painful knots above and below the outside of my knee that I cannot "knead" them out.
Can be a minor nerve root irritation.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The numbness and tingling near the knee can be due to a mild swelling around the nerve root or a minor nerve root compression- either due to the surgery or due to spondylottic changes in the lumbar spine.
You can take methylcobalamin supplements to reduce these symptoms after consulting with your orthopedician.
The painful knots around the knee can be due to muscle spasm or inflamed bursae around the knee. Doing a hot compress in the area followed by a light massage with local analgesic gel can help in relieving these.
I hope this answers your query.
