What Causes Lack Of Appetite, Unusual Crying And Bubbling At Lips?
Question: Hi .. My baby is 43 days of age and he has been cranky since last 10-12 hours. He is feeding less than normal (4-5 minutes) and sleeps off and everytime he wakes up he cries with an unsual shriek . He is also bubbling at his lips every few minutes. I tried Colic aid drops (6 drops) which did not help much . What do i do ? What are these bubbles ?

I have seen the picture.
There are many possibilities for less feeding and more sleepiness with shrill cry and bubbling at mouth, few include
1. Throat infection which can cause difficulty in swallowing, hence bubbling
2. Reflux which is very common in young infants, will settle with domperidone drops
3. Subtle seizures which can manifest as bubbling and shrill cry.
4. Sepsis or infection which can be a late presentation in newborn.
All these need to be ruled out, which needs URGENT CLINICAL evaluation by a pediatrician.
Take him to nearby childrens hospital ASAP
Donot wait .
Avoid giving medicines like colicaid on your own, it may be harmful if you delay evaluation and treatment esp because the baby is 43 days old.
