What Causes Large Pus Filled Boils On Body?
t
Small boils treated with antibiotics, larger ones with pus require drainage
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in detail.
A boil must be treated as per the size, amount of inflammation and pus formation. In the initial stages, when a boil is small, it usually resolves with a short course of antibiotics. If there is significant redness and the size is increasing every day then incision and drainage must be done under aseptic precautions and with antibiotics and pain killers.
At times, the patient is told to take antibiotics and watch for any pus drainage from the boil when taking antibiotics. If there is no improvement after taking antibiotics for 5 days and should there be pus formation then application of heat pack can help in slowly draining out the pus under supervision of a doctor.
Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.
Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
Regards,
Dr.Vivek
