What Causes Large Solid Lump On The Scrotum Wall?
Question: I have a large marble size solid lump inside my scrotom attached to the scrotum wall. I squeezed it and first pus came out then a clear liquid followed by blood. It hurt when squeezed. It has a purple reddish color around the head of it where pus came out. What is this?
Brief Answer:
most probably Infected sebaceous cyst
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Form the history you have provided, this looks to be an infected sebaceous cyst.
By far, the commonest reason for the lumps in scrotal skin are sebaceous cysts.
Since this area is covered all the time, the cysts are prone to an infection. When you squeezed this, the material of sebaceous cyst with pus escaped; the raw surface hence created oozes the serous - clear fluid. If you press more the small blood vessels rupture and give a bleeding.
The Purple reddish color is due to infection of the skin .

what should I do to treat this? and will it go away on its own? and if so how long does it normally take them to run their course?
Brief Answer:
Local care/ antibiotic cover / sterile dressings
Detailed Answer:
This being a covered area, you need to take antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medicines and sterile dressings.
I would recommend you to visit a Doctor to get this examined and get prescription-based medicines; have a cleaning and sterile dressing.
This will help to settle this within a few days to a week maximum.
If you do not take medicines but take local care by cleaning the area with povidone iodine ( Betadine) twice a day and apply sterile dressings , it may still heal nicely.
But the chances of delayed healing are always there.
Most of the times the healing is complete, but occasionally if the inner lining of a cyst remains alive there is a small chance of recurrence.
