What Causes Left Arm Pain And Shortness Of Breath?

Couple of days back,I had a complaint of left arm pain and shortness of breath. Hence I went to the emergency room. The doctor did all the tests like ECG,Chest x-ray, blood work etc. All the tests came normal. My blood pressure, oxygen levels etc are all normal. They sent me back to home. My cardiologist ordered two tests. ie. 1. Stress test 2. Echocardiogram to make sure that everything is fine with my heart. They are scheduled next week. Iam feeling better day by day by taking ample rest. What precautions should I take in the mean time before the above said tests are done? Do shortness of breath also comes from dust allergies ?

Yes Shortness of breath can be due to multiple etiologies like Allergic bronchitis,Stress and anxiety,secondary response to allergic hypersensitivity etc.
apart from cardiopulmonary etiology.
Since ECG and Chest x ray are normal,I advise you not to be panic at this moment.
An Echocardiography and stress test to rule out cardiac abnormality is mandate.
Once cardiac cause is ruled out I advise you to take Tab.Deriphylline and low dose steroid to releive your symptoms.
Note:These drugs should be taken under strict medical prescription of your doctor.
Follow these measures:
1.Avoid stress and anxiety.Avoid strenuous activities.
2.Avoid oily and fried fatty foods.
3.Avoid exposure to cold and dust.
4.Few positions like Sleeping with head end elevated and knees bent with a pillow between your knees.
5.Sleeping on lateral side will also help.
6.Yoga and breathing exercises will help.
