What Causes Left Flank Pain During Urination?
For how long has this been going on?
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about this difficulty that you have reported. This is an uncommon condition n young adults and I will like to know for how long this has been going on. If this is a recent observation, I would suggest that you monitor a little for us to be sure that it is not a one time occurrence but something for sure that needs further medical attention. What are you taking these antibiotics for? Do you have an ongoing infection?
In the meantime, there is nothing life threatening and it is not an emergency. let's be settled to understand what is going on before acting in a hurry.
I hope to get these clarifications from you before making recommendations and suggestions on what we should be looking at at this point to address this. I hope to hear from you a your earliest convenience.
I do not think it is cased by an infection!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I do not think this is caused by an infection. And being on three antibiotics already show that this would be very unlikely to be resolved with antibiotics.
I will recommend that you get the urethra and the bladder evaluated for possible obstruction. Difficulties initiating a urine stream suggests obstruction somewhere along the urine passages. This could be a stone or by another disease condition often caused by an untreated infection.
For now, I will recommend that you talk to a urologist. I am not too optimistic with antibiotics for this. I wish you well and ready to address any worries you may have at this time.
It could but I cannot tell rigth now!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Given how much force you need to urinate, am concerned you may not be able to able your bladder fully. This would lead to urine buildup in the bladder that can affect the kidneys.
I will like you see the urologist as soon as possible but, this is not an emergency and you should not use the ER. If you are able to see him within 1-2weeks, that would be a reasonable decision.
I hope this helps. I wish you well.
Keep me updated after this appoinrmrnt.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I am happy to hear you have an appointment scheduled already. I will like you to keep me updated after the visit so that I can keep track of the developments.
I wish you well hope to hear from you later in the day.
At 27 years, this isn't common. Let's follow up and see what we get out!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Am happy you made a visit to the urologist already. Am happy with this.
Well, at your age I will not think neurogenic bladder would be a top list diagnosis. Well, he would follow up with investigations and treatment and this would shed more light on what the exact problem is. What treatment plan did he suggest to you?
I hope you are not feeling that bad. At your age, we have greater chances to address any problems fully, unless otherwise. Have you had the chance to read more on this? Have you ever had trauma to the back?
Well as of right now the only treatment plan we have is, is to get a KUB and then also this urogenic test.
I am still in pain/ I have done a little bit of research on this, and no i havent had any trauma to my back, the only thing i have is scoliosis but it is very very mild.
Let's see what the KUB shows!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Well, I have no major recommendations as of now but interested in knowing what the preliminary findings show. Let you mentioned, I also think this might not be the definitive diagnosis but always important thinking and investigating for.
Keep me updated.
I really appreciate you helping me and giving me important information during this hard time in my life right now.
Keep me posted with the updates!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I am humbled by your kind words. I also know your problem has not been addressed fully. Keep me updated with your progress and I would see what more information I can chip in to help you address this fully.
Stay positive, optimistic and be happy.
Thank you, yes i have not been diagnosed fully, we have ruled out a lot things and that also includes 4 different antibiotics in the last month.
I would love if you could help me in any way you can, i'm a little unsure about this whole thing as well as this test i have to take which is urodynamic test.
Yes i will stay positive and optimistic, i am ready for whatever the doctor will find and diagnose me with.
The urodynamic study would help...Let's see the results first!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
This study would look at the mechanism that surrounds urination. It would be able to tell if the bladder is not reacting to distension and see whether there is some urine that stays in the urine, etc. This would be helpful in dropping several possibilities and following up with plausible causes.
My advice, get this test and report results to me. We would pick up from there.
I await your updates and until then, I wish you well.
Hi,
I had my urodynamic test earlier today. I had 600cc of saline water put into my bladder, she stopped at that point not because i said i had to go to the bathroom but because my bladder was completely full. She then had me urinate it out and saw that my ppelvic floor muscles were off the chart, as well as the amount of pressure i was using to urinate. I hope you can help me figure out if all of that is a good thing or a bad thing? Does this mean that there is nothing wrong my bladder, and my problem could be due to something else?
PLease, do you have a copy of this report? Upload it!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
The volume is just one of the several parameters in interpreting this test/ I will like to have an idea of the exact pressure during urination and whether all the urine was emptied. Also, it would be very important for the strength of the urine stream to be reported as well so that I can make the most of this.
Sorry for the tardy response but back on my desk and would readily respond to you as soon as more information comes in. If this is all you can lay hands on, let me know.
I wish you well.
Thank you for getting back to me! I don't know the exact pressure amount as of right now, i will find that answer out for you. i couldn't empty my whole bladder so the technician had to empty it and she said there was almost 20cc of urine still in there.
20cc is nottoo much though!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Is the pressure to empty still the same or decreasing? 20cc is not too much and let me get the report of this test. I really think we may be missing out on something. Was this a urologist or just a technician?
I wish you well.
It was the technician. Yesterday i had a urogram ct scab, and i go back to the urologist on monday and then he will do a cysostomy. So i would think i might have answers on monday.
The pressure is staying the same, and my left lower flank pain is getting worse.
Let's get the results interpreted first!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Technicians cannot really interpret results to tell us what the issue is. I will recommend that we hear what the urologist says as this would be more informative than any other source.
Keep me updated. I understand the problem is still ongoing and reasoning why looking for answers is an ongoing process.\
Let's stay in touch.
I saw the urologist yesterday and had the cystoscopy and he found a plum size mass pushing up against my bladder. He thinks the mass is what has been causing all of my issues.
THis sounds more like what I suspected.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
This is information that I would accept as a possible diagnosis. I have always said this looked like obstruction and nothing else. I am happy we are getting findings that sound like possible answers to your symptoms.
What is the plan? I will say, follow up on this and this is the most likely problem.
I wish you well and keep me updated!
Thanks for getting back to me. The plan is i get the mass biopsied, the obgyn says this is something she doesnt do because it out of her scope of practice and was told i need to see urologist gynecologist. My urologist 's NP is trying to get me into a oncology gynecologist. I am hoping i can get in ASAP because of the severe pain i am in and the fact that when i able to urinate i have blood in it. Do you know how long after getting it biopsied would i find out the results?
Probbaly a week!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I know you must be anxiously waiting. Am happy because real progress is being made. It would probably take a week to get the results back. Just be patient and all would be okay again.
I wish you well. Let's stay in touch.
