Question: Ihave IDDM, stage 1 ckd, hashimotos thyroiditis which caused cardiomyopathy. I'm on a low potassium diet. I feel like I've been kicked in the stomach, feel bloated and have occasional sharp pain in the left flank. This is not associated with food, and my diet isnow very bland. Do I just have to live with this?

Brief Answer:
Have to, but can be better if planned well.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.

Read and understood the complex history and the medications you are taking.
I can understand the need to take Valtrex for Shingles.

Please discuss with your Doctors about Atorvastatin 80 as it is given with caution in diabetes, kidney problems and hypothyroidism.

I can understand the complexities of undergoing treatment for all the medical problems you are carrying on, and almost all are not revertible back. Yet with proper medications, diet and lifestyle you can carry on a better life than you can think of.
You have to keep the stress, anxiety and depression at bay. Continue to moderate the dosages as per the changing needs of the body and a good combination of the medicines will keep you nice.

Low potassium can cause bloating as well as diabetes causing gastroparesis of some degree. The commonest cause of left flank pain is usually colitis of some sort of the descending or sigmoid colon.
Please get the stool checked and take an opinion of a Gastroenterologist and colonoscopy and further investigations for once to confirm or rule out the exact cause to get a plan for proper treatment.
Intestines are affected by all the diseases and will show its effects.

I hope this answer helps you to get a proper diagnosis, and get a proper further treatment. Please feel free to ask for more or if you need further clarifications or if you feel there is a gap of communication.
