What Causes Left-sided Abdominal Pain, Shaking, Dizziness, Constipation, Nausea And Tingling Hands?
Question: Hi. So around a year ago I was diagnosed with IBS. 3 months ago, I came down with an acute attack of gastrointestinal problems. Symptoms included: pain in left side of abdomen, shaking, dizzyness, constipation, intense nausea, tingling sensation in hands. I have been in hospital 4 times since. After seeing three different gastroenterologists in three months, they're all stumped and still seem to think it's IBS. I am unable to leave the house and cannot eat anything without sharp pains in my stomach and last part of my colon.
Just now as I write this, I have been trembling none stop for almost 2 days and have a metallic smell in my nose. I know a large part of my problems are due to stress and anxiety but I cannot seem to calm them as I normally can and the symptoms are getting more severe, attacks are lasting longer and longer. I get strange symptoms such as tiny hard bumps on my chest and stomach (one at a time, usually clear up in a week or two), mouth ulcers and a dry throat. Docs have ruled out coeliac and Crohns but are reluctant to do scopes due to my age (18) and because I do not have diarrhoea. I'm at my wits end, please help :(

Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.
After analyzing your medical data I would like to say that you should do upper endoscopy and colonoscopy to definitely exclude gastrointestinal problems (including Crohn's disease).
It's true that Crohn disease in most of the cases is manifested with diarrhea, but in a few cases t may be associated with constipation, abdominal distention (without diarrhea).
The scopes will definitely exclude gastrointestinal problems, then your problems are most likely related to stress and anxiety. Taking anxiolytic preparations will help to relieve your symptoms.
Hope this will be of help!
Wish you health!

Hi, thank you for answering! My gastroenterologist will not do any scopes as he does not think they will produce anything and are not worth the ris. What do I say to him??

Hi back,
You should argue that only the scopes will definitely exclude gastrointestinal problems. Moreover a normal examination will help to relieve your concerns and anxiety.
You should discuss with your doctor and if he refuse to do the scopes the best thing to do is to contact another gastroenterologist for a second opinion (it's very difficult that he will accept any argument from you).
Hope this will be of help!

Hi thank you for answering again - I have requested a second opinion and they have agreed to do a small colonoscopy which I hope will show something but my problems occur in my upper gut. I will do my best, thank you.
