Brief Answer: Not an easy problem to solve. Detailed Answer: Hi, This is a very common problem and not easy to deal with. Sometimes there are predisposing factors to having leg cramps at night such as varicose veins. Having this veins dealt with surgically may help the pains. You should also have some general work up at your Dr's surgery including a physical exam to check the pulses in your legs and your blood work, to look at your electrolyte levels. If you do not have varicose veins then therapeutic measures to help with your leg cramps can include drinking soda water before bedtime or taking quinine sulphate tablets (soda water has quinine sulphate in it). Stretching before bedtime can also help. A moderate compression stocking may also be of benefit. Taking a bath or hot shower before bed after stretching may also be of benefit. I hope this information is helpful Best wishes
