Posted on Wed, 21 Oct 2015
Question: I hurt my leg a few weeks ago and the thought it was a hairline stress fracture. After a week in a boot it felt much better. I had the boot for another week and it started to hurt again but on the whole calf. The doctor told me to stop wearing the boot but now. My leg is so tender(pins and needles) when I lay down even a sheet feels like very rough material. I can't sleep without ice on it and it's the whole
calf. My ankle is slightly swollen. It better the when I walk a bit more. YYYY@YYYY

Brief Answer:
Get evaluated by a physician and upload images

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Have you undergone X-ray of limb for fracture investigation.
In case the X-ray is normal, you should get evaluated for deep venous thrombosis if limb is having swelling and tenderness.
For this you need to consult a physician and get a doppler of lower limb.
For treatment you can continue pain killers and additionally take pain modulators like pregabalin or gabapentin.
You can also upload images of your limb and X-ray with doctors prescription for further analysis and advise .
Hope you found the answer helpful.

My regular doctor checked my leg and didn't feel it was a blood clot because it doesn't have heat and she didn't feel one. What type of Doctor should I go to? The ortho seem only concerned with the bone. X-Ray was normal.
Can my regular doctor order thetest for the deep vein.

Brief Answer:
Consult a neurologist and take treatment as advised

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX,
If you have normal X-ray and no deep venous thrombosis then possibility of ligament injury may also be considered.
Rest and pain killers will be helpful.
If the treating orthopedician is communicating normal examination then you can have a visit to a neurologist once.
I hope it will improve on it's own with time and above medications along with pregabalin or gabapentin.
