What Causes Leg Pain Along With Chills?

default
Posted on Tue, 28 Nov 2017
Question: My husband has been having random episodes of his back flaring up- he describes it as a sharp, shooting pain left of his L5. the pain doesn't travel down his legs. Almost at the same time his left shoulder will start hurting- described as pain that is sharp and shooting without range of motion. I thought these two were disconnected but just realized that when these pains occur, he has awful chills that make him perceive the air temp as much colder than it is. He can't get warm. We've seen several doctors but I never mentioned the chills because I failed to make the connection. They have all thought that its sports injury related (he used to play college football) but I think its something more serious.

Brief Answer:
Can be a muscle spasm.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
A sudden pain associated with chills can be related to a muscle spasm in the area or an electrolyte imbalance. This does not seem to be a serious problem. The pain and spasm can be posture related also.
It is best to start with electrolyte rich fluids like Garotade and get his serum electrolyte levels evaluated. Doing regular physiotherapy exercises and a hot compress can also help.
I hope this answers your query.
