Where exactly do you have the pain? Do you also have pain at the back over your spine? How long have you had this and has there been any change in the pain from the time you had it first? Is there any thing that makes the pain worse and is there anything other than pain killers that give some relief?
Where exactly do you feel cold ?
Do you have any other health condition like diabetes?

The pain is mostly in the knee but radiates down to the ankle. When I stand, the knee, or leg, gives and won't allow pressure. I feel the cold deep inside from my knee to the ankle. This has happened before a couple of weeks ago and it was just about identical to this pain. I do not have diabetes. This leg was broken and had surgery in 1986 but I've not really had problems before, just minor swelling in the foot. The doctor said I would always have that. I do believe I have some arthritis though.
Brief Answer:
Likely to be osteoarthritis
Detailed Answer:
Yes, you probably have osteoarthritis which is a result of wear and tear. It is more often following trauma and occurs first on injured leg.
