What Causes Lethargy, Difficulty Breathing And Chest Pain?

default
Posted on Thu, 13 Nov 2014
Question: My husband has been sick for some time now, had lots of tests, but they have yet to figure out what is wrong. Here are some of the symptoms....lethargy, chest pain (had an angiogram and everything was clear), difficulty breathing, sweating non-stop, headaches (this last one has been ongoing for three weeks), some jaw/tooth pain. This has resulted in lack of drive/energy, never feeling rested and memory loss; Subsequently he is depressed. I dont even know what to do or where to go. But if he doesnt get help; figure out what's wrong, I dont think he will live a healthy, long life (48 years old).

Brief Answer:
multiple symptoms- no diagnosis

Detailed Answer:
Good afternoon. My name is Dr. Saghafi and I am a neurologist from the XXXXXXX OH region of the world. Looks like you're in XXXXXXX XXXXXXX In fact, I'm putting you at a couple of blocks from Alamo State Park but maybe that's where you work and are sending this consult from as opposed to your place of residence.

In order to really sort through your husband's case efficiently do you have information in the form of lab reports, scans of the head or anything else (liver, kidneys, bowels, etc) for which reports exist that you can get a hold of and send over to us by email after uploading? When did all of this start and tell me how it all began. Has he been hospitalized for several days looking for answers or just doing everything as an outpatient through his primary doctor?

Obviously, if a full or nearly workup has been done medically out there and nothing seems to be showing and he has a diagnosis of depression or depressive mood disorder then, one is likely to ascribe his symptoms to either side effects of medication he is taking for his psychiatric problems or his physical impairments are a direct consequence of his mental impairments. That's what a person could say without having the results in front of them.

However, if you get us all the results possible of blood, urine, imaging studies, etc. then, we might be able to review tests and decide on either ordering more or not based on exactly what's been done.

How about the jaw/tooth pain? Has he had a really solid dental examination together with a Panorex of the mouth to see if he may not be harboring a serious root infection of 1 or more teeth which could be in the midst of developing tooth and gum abscesses. These could then, seed by way of the bloodstream to the heart, the brain, the kidneys, and the pancreas and give all sorts of problems.

Is your husband overweight or deconditioned in any way? Is or was he working in the work force or has he not be working for some time? Does he smoke, drink, or use illicit substances at all? Of course, when I say illicit I may also be talking about substances which would be considered contraband in the State of Ohio but not necessarily in XXXXXXX now that your State Laws with respect to recreational marijuana use have been changed. Does he have diabetes, hypertension, COPD, kidney disease, or any other chronic medical conditions?

If any of the information I've asked or provided has been useful to further your understanding or give you ideas as to which direction to turn next and you'd like to CLOSE THIS QUERY then, could you do me a favor and leave a brief feedback report with a STAR RATING for the quality of this response with respect to what you've asked?

Alternatively, we could continue this conversation and you may answer as many of the questions as I've asked or upload information that I would be happy to review.
