Question: Hi doctor! I am really worried about my health now! On thursday i had my first sexual experience with a man in Central XXXXXXX he is my friend but to this point i still dont know his HIV status. We had protected sex and he penetrated me with a condom on and yes it was a little painful and i told him to take it out. In the morning in the i did the worst mistake i think because i then penetrated him without a condom but i didnt ejaculate in him. That same day everthing was normal! I ate and did everything normally! That night i went out with a lit of friends and i barely ate but i did drink a whole lot of alcohol around 7 glasses of mixed drinks and 2 beers! The next day i woke up and ate normally as well and i felt fine! Around 2 pm i ate a street snack and i didnt like the taste... Around an hour later i start feeling the urge to go to the bathroom! And i had diarreah the rest of the day! And throughout that whole day i started worrying so much if i had been infected with HIV and i have been extremely scared about it because not only i had diarreah that day but i started feeling lightheaded! I decided to go to sleep and i hoped that the next day would be better! The good thing is the next day the diarreah stopped! But i woke up feeling ok but an hour later i started feeling lightheaded again without any desire to eat! But i forcef myself to eat even though i didnt want to! That same day i did some fun activities outdoors like swimmimg and everything felt fine! I want so worried about my health, i even got hungry after swimmimg and ate with my family! The problem is that as soon as i ate i felt light headed again and usually i can stay up all night long but i decided to go to sleep early again! The next day which is today i just woke up and i thought i was hungry but i didnt finish my breakfast and i still feel lightheaded! I am very worried right now! I dont if its the unprotected sex or the food i ate that was bad to me! I am si scared! I need help please

Brief Answer:
STD screening immediately.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for your query.

I shall make an effort to provide you with good professional recommendations specific to your questions.

Your sexual history certainly requires STD screening which will diagnose few predominant sexual diseases like HIV, Hepatitis, Syphilis, Gonorrhea etc. This is a must.

Next, your light headedness in itself may be inconclusive to mean anything discrete at this stage. If your diet has not been proper - it could also mean low energy too. Have lot of fluids to begin with.

Get medical assistance immediately. Take barrier precautions during such sexual episodes to prevent the spread of infections, which may be deadly otherwise.

Alcohol intake leads to dehydration which also will add to the causes of dehydration leading to light headedness.

Let me know if I have missed out any other concern in your question.

Yet again, I duly appreciate your query to me, I do hope that you have found something useful to help you and I shall be glad to answer any further apprehensions.

Sincerely,

Dr Sujeet N Charugulla,

Brief Answer:
Many types of STD screening.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the response.

HIV testing is of many different types. The window period of detection will vary. You will need to discuss at laboratory if you need a conclusion within 3 months.

STD screening also involves many bacterial and viral diseases detection. Each one will vary differently as per culture timings.

If you have been actively taking part in sexual encounters - it is best to get a comprehensive and total check involving Syphilis, Hepatitis, Herpes, Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, HIV etc.

Let me know of further concerns.

Sincerely,
