What Causes Light Periods After Insertion Of Birth Control Implant?
Question: I had the birth control implant of Nexplanon put in my arm last February. Ever since the I've had this slow, light period but it's been going on for weeks. First it was 7 weeks, then it stopped one week and picked up again this week. Is my period just taking time to adjust back to normal or is it more likely that this will be continue until I have the implant removed?
Brief Answer:
common side effect, will subside in few days
Detailed Answer:
Hello mam,
Welcome to health care magic and thanks for trusting us.
Implants basically contain progesterone, which is released at a steady rate and takes time to attain therapeutic level in blood.
All progesterone containing implants and pills are associated with intermittent bleeding which eventually subsides.
This light bleeding is harmless and will be gone in few days time.
I hope you will be relieved after this discussion but in case you have any other query, I will be happy to help.
Take care and all the best.

If this period doesn't let up soon, should I be concerned?
Brief Answer:
if continues for a month, visit gynecologist
Detailed Answer:
Hi, yes in case bleeding continues for another 4 weeks, visit your gynecologist so that she can put you on some medicine for just stopping bleeding after examination.
Once bleeding stops there is nothing to worry but examination is essential by a gynecologist to rule out other cause of bleeding if any.
Everything will be fine. Hoping for the best. Take care.
