What Causes Light Spotting Before Menstruation Followed By Heavy Flow?
Question: Hello Doctor,
I have a query regarding my periods. I have noticed one thing from past 3 cycle I will have very little spotting (little spot of red blood along with white discharge) a day before my periods and will not have any flow for rest of the day until next 24hrs. and the next day my actual periods will start. is this something I have to worry about. my cycle is of 27 days.
another query is I am trying for second baby since 3 month and no luck. is this again I have to worry about . please advice me when will be my ovulation days.
Thanks in Advance.

Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry. Follow these guideline.
Detailed Answer:
Hello Dear,
Thanks for updated information.
1) Mild spotting or discharge (red/ white) is nothing serious. It may be due to old blood, endometrial tissue, hormonal imbalance etc. Just maintain genital hygiene.
2) I suggest you to follow this guideline to maximize chance of pregnancy:
As your monthly cycle is quite regular (24-27 days), then you have to involve in unprotected sex during your ovulation day or fertile period.
Ovulation occurs approx 14 days prior to next due date. In your case, it will be around 3rd to 6th April and your fertile days would be from 1st to 9th April. You should be prepared for those days.
You do proper sex with more deeper penetration and keep pillow under buttock for the same. In single cycle, chance of pregnancy is 20-25%. Therefore, you need to do unprotected sex for at least 6 months before going to investigation.
You can also use ovulation prediction kit or LH kit to predict ovulation day in mid cycle or during fertile days. It is available in all medical store.
You must take a healthy balanced diet with more fresh fruits and vegetables. Low carbohydrate diet is most preferable. Take vitamin-E and Folic acid supplements for 3 months in preconception period and there after.
Do light to moderate exercise for physical fitness, weight control and avoid mental stress completely by regular meditation/ yoga. Maintain a healthy life style always.
Hope, I have answered your query. Wish your good health and take care.
