Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX!

Welcome on HealthcareMagic !

Regarding your concern, I would explain that light-headedness and dizzy spells is not a rare feeling in many healthy individuals, especially when they are extremely tired, in highly stressful situations, in prolonged fasting stated (when skipping a meal, in conditions when some body dehydration is present, etc.

Once these uncommon conditions are avoided, the overall clinical status will improve and those unpleasant episodes will disappear.

Most commonly the above feelings are caused by what is called benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. In such case there is no any special measures (other than the above mentioned advices) to consider.

But, dizzy spells and light-headedness may be caused by several alternative abnormal conditions that need to be carefully explored, such as:

- an inner ear disorder,
- anemia,
- thyroid gland dysfunction,
- migraine,
- uncontrolled hypertension or even hypotension,
- cardiac related issues, such as arrhythmias, cardiomyopathies,
- adverse effects of some commonly prescribed drugs

That's why I recommend you discussing with your attending physician for a careful physical exam and some medical tests:

- complete blood count,
- fasting blood glucose level (possibility of hypoglycemia),
- thyroid hormones level,
- blood electrolytes level,
- resting ECG,
- ambulatory ECG monitoring (if suspicions of cardiac arrhythmia is raised),
- check frequently you blood pressure values

for properly discriminating the exact nature of the underlying cause of your complaints.

Hope to have been helpful to you!

In case of any further questions, feel free to ask me again!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
