What Causes Loose Stool Along With Diarrhea?

Question: I recently experienced "accidents" in that I've had diarrhea with soft stools that I've found in my underwear. I didn't feel it coming out. It's the color of split pea soup or maybe a little darker. I have no other symptoms. This has never happened before. It's been going on +/- 2-3 wks. I've not changed my diet much other than it's healthier. No new medications. I thought maybe it's because I drink a lot of blueberry smoothies, maybe, ...or Is this an infection? I'm scared!

I read it carefully and I understand your concern.

Can I ask how many times/day have you had these soft stools? Any blood or mucus? Is it watery? Have you traveled recently?

At your age, I would recommend these labs so that we can rule out important causes of a diarrhea which lasts more then one week or any other pathologies of the colon :

-- Stool for ova and parasite
-- Stool for occult blood
-- Colonoscopy

Let me know if you have done any of those.
If it was an infection most probably it would have gone away in 7 days.
