Question : Hi, I fell last Thursday, January 15th and hit my head. I lost consciousness briefly. Since then I have pain where my head impacted the pavement, my neck is a little sore and had some minor swelling and bruising around one of my eyes. Otherwise, I am alert and don't feel impaired. Friends are telling me I should go to the emergency room. Do you think that's necessary?

Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.

Loss of consciousness although brief after a head-injury itself is an indication that you should be seen, examined by a Doctor and at least CT scan of the brains or MRI be done.

Yes you should visit an Emergency Room and get the examination and investigations done.
If some positive findings, you can be diagnosed and treated in time; if everything is normal - what a relief..
