Question: My daughter in laws sister is a brittle diabetic and gave birth to a son may 7th. He does not grip an adults finger and cannot eat. He vomits right after. The local hospital has him in NICU. I think she needs to take him to the University of Michigan 45 miles away. He is down to just under 6 lbs. from almost 9 lbs. I am very worried.

Sir, In a diabetic mother this some time happens to give birth to low birth weight baby. Now don't worry much. If he is put in NICU for a while, He gets back to normal with good care. Mean while on he way feed him even when vomit also and keep him warm.

Dear sir,

Prader-Willi syndrome is a congenital (present from birth) disease. It affects many parts of the body. People with this condition have reduced muscle tone and mental ability, and have sex glands that produce little or no hormones. The condition is diagnosed clinically and the signs are
1)Newborns are often small and floppy.
2)Male infants may have undescended testicles.
3)Other symptoms may include: Trouble eating as an infant, with poor weight gain, Almond-shaped eyes, Delayed motor development, Narrow bifrontal skull, Rapid weight gain, Short stature, Slow mental development, Very small hands and feet in comparison to the child's body.

The doctors must have diagnosed with the clinical signs and symptoms. However genetic testing is available to test children for Prader-Willi syndrome. Take treating doctor's advice's and follow.
