What Causes Low Blood Pressure?

Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!
I would like to know if you are taking any anti-hypertensive drugs.
Low blood pressure could be related to different possible causes: anti-hypertensive drugs, chronic anemia, dehydration or electrolyte imbalance.
If you are taking any anti-hypertensive drugs, I would recommend reduce the dose or even stop them, based on your blood pressure values.
It is also important to avoid straining physical activity and take plenty of fluids. Increasing salt intake in your diet will also help. Coffee is helpful too.
If these low blood pressure values persist, despite the above mentioned tips, I would recommend consulting with your attending physician for a careful physical exam and some tests:
- a resting ECG
- a chest X ray study
- complete blood count for anemia
- kidney and liver function tests
- blood electrolytes for possible imbalance.
Hope you will find this answer helpful!
Wishing good health,
Dr. Iliri
