What Causes Low Body Temperature 4 Days Post An Ankle Surgery?

default
Posted on Mon, 25 Sep 2017
Question: Had ankle surgery 4 days ago to repair torn ligament. Incision seems fine, no fever, but the incision site is cold, not to touch, but to me. I also seem to have my body temperature go from warm to cold easily, no fever. Should I be concerned?

Brief Answer:
Normal finding.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
A mild lower temperature in the limb can be due to immobilization and lesser blood circulation. This is a normal finding and is not suggestive of any pathology. Do not worry. You can use a warmer to keep the limb warm and move the toes regularly to help keep the proper circulation.
I hope this answers your query.
