default
Posted on Fri, 16 Sep 2016
Question: Hello,

caught a fever a few days ago around sunday morning. went to the medical laboratory to have a CBC. because i was afraid if it was dengue or what. the results came back and my platelet count was normal. the problem was my lymphocyte count was very low. I'm just afraid it's a bacterial infection or something worst. had fever, chills and aching joints but feeling better already though. Just want to be sure. on saturday I was probably dehydrated because i had to walk around the heat for around a couple of hours and was also not able to drink alot of fluids and also after exposed to heat i was eventually exposed to the air condition.

Brief Answer:
Due to viral infections

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for the query
According to your history you might be having viral flu mimics Dengue
As your platelets count is normal no need to worry on this.
Usually in viral infections Lymphocyte count level go down during ifection period.
These viral infections are self limiting. It takes its own time to resolve.
You can get done CBC count again after 3 months. If still Lypmhocytes levels are low, you may need to meet Local doctor for clinical examination, he may asks you get done few tests to rule out any other viral infection/immuno suppresive disorder.
For current symptoms you can just take Tab Levocitrezine or Tab Sinarest for fever, cold and dry cough.
Pain killers like Tab Diclofenac for joint pain
No need of antibiotics.

Have diet including Vegitables and fruits
Have easily digestible food.Avoid non veg food for few days
Drink plenty of water(preferably filtered /boiled)
Avoid out side, oily food.

If you have any doubt, you are welcome.

Take care

Brief Answer:
due to viral infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks again for writing and sorry for the delayed response.

Yes, There is slight decrease in the WBC count, again it is due to viral infection.

Viral infections that temporarily disrupt the work of bone marrow.Bone marrow is the place from where all these WBC gets produced.Severe infections that use up white blood cells faster than they can be produced.

Once you recovered from the infections. It gradually starts increasing.

So do not worry on this.

Get done Typhidot and widal test for the detection of Typhoid, which is more sensitive test.Go ahead with Abdominal scan.
