Brief Answer:
Can be a hormonal imbalance.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The delay in periods could be due to a mild hormonal imbalance, mental stress, emotional upset, irregular diet habit, high prolactin level, over weight or extreme loss, pelvic infection etc.

You may require one pelvic ultrasound scan and complete hormone test to rule out the underlying cause & confirm the diagnosis in absence of period. You must consult with your local GYNECOLOGIST regarding this.
It is right now too early to detect a pregnancy by urine test. Blood HCG test may be helpful.
You should wait at least 1 week to get period naturally. If you don't get it, then progesterone pill Like Norethisterone can be given to induce period. Kindly, procure a complete prescription from your doctor.

In addition, you can take healthy diet (LOW CARBOHYDRATE) with more green vegetables, drink more water, keep bowel habit regular, avoid mental stress by meditation or yoga, control body weight by regular physical exercise and maintain genital hygiene properly.

Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

I dont now why but I have a feeling that I might be pregnant as I happened to have unprotected sex last month. Moreover, It never happened before that my periods get delayed so much. Infact ,I have suffered tremendous stress last to last year but periods were unaffected. So, this is quite unusual to me. Do you think I should take the urine test again after a week? I am very much worried as I would not like to have a child right now , so I would like to detect it as soon as possible and eliminate it.

Please suggest

Brief Answer:
Can be due to pregnancy.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Possibility of pregnancy is present. You can take a repeat urine test after one week. Or for an early detection go for a serum HCG estimation.
