What Causes Lower Abdominal Pain, Nausea And Fever?

default
Posted on Wed, 7 Jun 2017
Question: When I finished my shower and was putting on new underwear (the underwear has never been used, but I had it hanging on the rod for a couple days), alot of black specks were falling from it, they all looked the same. No clue if this is related, but my apartment is currently infested with these small beetle-things (exterminator confirmed), and I've been having a ton of health issues, been to the hospital a couple times and my gp, urologist, and GI many times for non-stop lower stomach pains, nausea, fever/chills, weakness, that no one can give an answer to. Is it bugs that I saw in the underwear? Could my health problems be from parasites? How can I tell the difference between tiny specks from bowel movements vs possible bugs? I hate asking this question and know it's gross. I just freaked out when I saw that and am scared that's what's causing my health problems. And if so, what can I do about it?

Brief Answer:
Recurrent Enteritis most likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Dear,
Thanks for asking query on this forum.
Have gone through your query most likely cause of your symptoms appear to be gastroenteritis.Gastroenteritis can either be a viral or bacterial in origin.
Fever abdominal pain nausea etc all points out towards infection of gastrointestinal tract.
Initially i would recommend you to go for a stool test to rule out the cause of recurrent infection.
Therapy with antiprotozoal like Secnidazole and antibacterial like Ciprofloxacin can be taken for 3 days along with antispasmodic like drotaverine.
Take omeprazole 20 mg once daily along with a good quality probiotic.
Things will improve as over all digestion will improve.

As per you query regarding parasitic infestation stool test will make it clear however a single tablet albendazole 400mg can be taken as stat dose for deworming.

Most likely in your underwear you saw a bug.Wash it boil it in hot water and use it after that.

Easiest way to differenciate between bugs and stool is that take a small sample to the nearest lab and get it investigated by a microbiologist. It will hardly take 20 minutes to clear your doubts.

Feel free to ask if you have any other doubts.
Regards.
