What Causes Lower Abdominal Pain Under Ribcage?

Question: Lower abdominal pain under my ribcage that runs around my back and upper shoulder blade area. I am nauseated with vomiting and breaking out in sweats. My bowels have also changed and I have loss some weight. Could you help?

Hi dear.Thanks for your query.

As per your description I would suspect pancreatitis at the first place which requires you to visit the hospital as early as possible. Pancreatitis results in leakage of excess pancreatic juice which is why you have vomiting and severe pain abdomen and altered bowels.

It is equally important to rule out gastroenteritis which also presents with the above complaints.Since it requires examination and some of the laboratory tests for evaluation I would suggest to visit the nearest hospital.Hope you have an insurance cover for your health.Get well soon.
