What Causes Lower Back Pain, Pale Stools, Dizziness And Fatigue?

default
Posted on Thu, 3 Aug 2017
Question: I am a 45 yr old female that has been suffering with a constant dull ache in the lower back. Typically on the right but at times on the left side too. A urine sample showed high levels of bilirubin, blood, and protein but the ultrasound and blood work looks fine. Yesterday my bowel movements were very pale in color, like a cream color. I am dizzy, fatigued, and still having that dull pain in the lower back. Any ideas?

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood your concerns.Pale stool, dizziness, fatigue indicate a possibility of Jaundice.
I would advise you to consult your Doctor asap for clinical evaluation, examination and investigations of blood: CBC, Liver functions in particular, kidney functions and others as indicated.
Ultrasonography although normal as you have said may need repeat for hepato-biliary system and Urogenital system; may need further tests like MRCP if required.

About the backache:
Since when have been suffering from backache?
Does it increase on bending or movement of back?
Any referred pain to the lower limbs?
What are the factors that increase or reduce the backache.
Please give the details for me to assist you better and also give feedback about the lab reports and clinical evaluation.

Brief Answer:
likely to be local problem; go for the tests asap

Detailed Answer:
Back pain of few months: the most likely cause can be related to the back - the muscles, spine or so and can be enhanced by kidney or such problems.
AN opinion of a Nephrologist will definitely help but also need urgent investigations.
