What Causes Lower Left Back Pain?

Question: I am experiencing a VERY slight but increasing sensation in my left kidney. I have just gotten over a horrible and long cold. I am still taking Musinex, 12 hour. I take a blood pressure med and Januvia for high blood sugar. I am overweight but still play baseball and have great endurance. I am 69 1/2 yrs old

Anybody there?

I appreciate your concern

Based on your description i.e slight but increasing sensation in left kidney, I would assume that you have this discomfort involving the back and flank. the kidney may or may not be involved.

If there is associated burning urination with increasing pain then urinalysis and ultrasound abdomen can be advised to look for findings like a urinary tract infection, hematuria , a urinary tract stone among other causes. If these classical symptoms and positive lab findings aren't present then a musculoskeletal disorder should be assessed and treated.
