What Causes Lump At The Bottom Of Vaginal Opening?

default
Posted on Thu, 25 Jun 2015
Question: Hi,

I have a lump/excess skin blocking half of my vagina.

When I was about 15 I went to the doctors to be checked as I couldn't get a tampon in but the doctor said I was fine.

I've had sex numerous times since and it's fine if we push past the fleshy bit at the top - at the bottom of the vagina there is a small hole which is fine and pain free.

So what is the lump? It's totally painless just very unattractive and making me worried!

Brief Answer:
A normal variation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The lump that you are feeling is likely to be normal vaginal wall that has some rugosities on its surface. This is a part of normal morphology. It is not something abnormal. There is no need to worry.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

Hi,

Thanks for your quick reply.

Is there any way it can be removed? When you put a finger inside the vagina the lump protrudes outwards and feels horrible. I can even grab the bit of skin with my two fingers. I don't want any potential sexual partners thinking I have something wrong 'down there', or that it's a turn off.

(Sorry to be so indiscreet with my descriptions!)

Thank you

Brief Answer:
Can be corrected surgically.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
It can be surgically removed or made smaller but that can decrease the elasticity of the vaginal wall. It is not anything wrong. Please do not worry.
Hope my answer is helpful.
