Posted on Mon, 22 Jun 2015
Question: Hi,
I usually get small lumps near my genitals which are mostly painless unless touch or squeezed (still a slight and bearable pain). They occur every once in 3/4 months and disappear themselves sometimes bad blood or puss like liquid comes out.

Can you help me on this please.

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I have taken note of your query and I have understood your concern.

Your concern seems to be that of recurrent bacterial skin infections i.e furunculosis.
Recurrent furunculosis is common in those who are carriers of staph aureus and in patients who have raised blood sugar levels e.g diabetes.

I suggest that you take up a few basic investigations e.g blood sugar and complete blood work.
Pus culture and sensitivity from one of these skin lesions would help identify the causative bacteria.

I would suggest a course of an oral antibiotics guided by culture and sensitivity report along with topical antibacterial ointment e.g 2% Mupirocin ointment twice daily.

General measures would include maintaining utmost hygiene like twice daily bathing with an antibacterial soap, proper washing of undergarments etc.

Regards
