Question: my daughter had enlarged lymph nodes in neck and under arm not more than 1 cm in size. her Mt test for tb was positive. We had started treatment from last 5 months of tablets for tb.
Some lymph nodes size reduced some are as it is. will they not come to their original state.
I have observed 1 lymph node or sub mendibular gland enlarged which is below right jaw which is 1.5 to 2 cm in size. is it enlarged lymph node or enlarged sub mendibular gland. would it have enlarged due to tb infection.??
Brief Answer:
Size decrease takes few more months

Hi
Thanks for writing to health care magic.
1) Lymph node enlargement with positive mantoux test needs to be treated with atleast 6 months of anti tuberculosis medicines. The nodes will take few more months to decrease. Some may return to normal , while some may persist. If your daughter is otherwise asymptomatic and there is no INCREASE in size, don't worry.
2) The enlarged thing below her right jaw should be a lymph node. It could be enlarged due to tb infection.
But if this has started after her treatment began, I suggest you need to get Lymphnode biopsy to rule out infection or malignancies like lymphoma.
It's a safe procedure and can be done as day care procedure in any hospital.
Biopsy will give you the confirmed diagnosis.
Hope I answered your query
Let me know if you need any further clarification.

Dr Arun
Brief Answer:
Wait
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
You can wait safely for one or two months .
Complete antiTB treatment.
I personally feel that the node should go down in size in that time.
If size increases biopsy or FNAC may be considered.
