What Causes Menstrual Bleeding Twice A Month After Taking I-pills Intermittently?

Posted on Tue, 6 Oct 2015
Question: I took the plan B pill around 6 times this year, I know it's wrong, but now I think my hormone levels are messed up because I have been getting my period twice a month, it's a pretty light period, and it's been two months already of two periods per month. Is that normal? should I worry?

Brief Answer:
Breakthrough Bleeding

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. It is pretty normal with plan B and should not be worried about. It is called Breakthrough Bleeding and is a result of adjustment time which a body takes to adjust to hormones in pills. In starters its common with passage of time it reduces. You should also know breakthrough bleeding does not mean pill did not work. You may continue the pill in future just keep the track and record it in a calendar or diary for better management.

Nutshell its common and flow varies with these pills and is nothing to worry about. happens all the times. If you feel discomfort you may switch to other methods of contraception.

I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and don't forget to close the discussion please.

Thank you for your answer,
So it's nothing serious I guess, but is it dangerous to take the Plan B pill that many times? Does it affect my fertility? I am trying to get pregnant now, so I don't know if it's the best moment to do so. Also, is there any way I can regulate my period faster? Because bleeding this much can't be healthy.

Brief Answer:
No worries

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back to me

As I mentioned earlier breakthrough blood is common with pills. With passage of time body gets used to it. And no it does not affect fertility. If you wanna conceive then stop these pills. Won't affect the baby once stopped.

Nutshell no worries. Just take iron and folate supplements and hope for the best.

I hope it helps.
