What Causes Menstrual Bleeding While On Duphaston?

Question: I am ttc for the last 3 months. Doc prescribed me folvite tabs everyday and duphaston from day 16 to 25 of my cycle. In the last two cycles I took duphaston as prescribed and got my periods after 3 or 4 days of completing the dose. However, this month, I got my periods even while I was on duphaston. 4 tabs still left and my periods arrived all of a sudden, on the 22nd day of cycle. what went wrong doctor? what could be the possible reason? plz help.

I think since your periods are irregular duphaston was advised..
Usually bleeding will happen after completing it.
I think you need to evaluate with an ultrasound scan in your next cycle before starting duphastone and on duphastone also.
Or else a follicular study can be of use.
Without scan,,difficult to comment.
Did you miss any tablets?

no i didn't miss my tablets, but the last day before starting periods i was a bit late to take duphaston, almost 1 hour late. Moreover, i did exercise a lot this week. My doc says exertion could be a possible reason. As for pcod, I had it before but the last two ultrasounds from 2 different labs showed normal ovaries, no cysts at all. I lead a very healthy lifestyle. plz help.

If your cycles are regular discuss with your infertility specialist regarding follicular study to confirm ovulation .If it is not happening,, medicines can be tried to induce ovulation.
Healthy life style is very essential in controlling pcod.

Since I had a sudden period even before completing the duphaston course, can I expect a withdrawal bleed again after completing the dose? I completed the course only yesterday. If not, when can I expect my next period?

We have to wait and watch... it depends on how many tablets left and the nature of bleeding now.
Usually you might get bleeding again after stopping duphastone.
