I will try to explain you the term microangiopathy in detail.
Microangiopathy (or microvascular disease, or small vessel disease) is an angiopathy (i.e.disease of blood vessels) affecting small blood vessels in the body.
When such changes occur in the small vessels of the brain, then it is known as cerebral microangiopathy.Age-related and hypertension-related small vessel diseases and cerebral amyloid angiopathy are the most common forms.
In this condition, the small vessles like small arteries, arterioles, venules, and capillaries of the brain are affected by the inflammatory process and as a result, they get narrowed leading to decreased blood supply to the area of brain they are supplying.
These lesions are not dangerous if they are not extensive and not involving a large area of brain. But if there is extensive and recurrent involvement, it can cause stroke.
For a complete evaluation of the extent of the blood vessels involved, I suggest you to get a MR Angiography of the brain done.
It will reveal the extent of the vessels involved and this will help in further management.
