tests advised
Detailed Answer:
Hello mam, thanks for trusting health care magic.
It is a usual pattern observed after the age of 45 years which will smoothly pass to menopause.
But still get an ultrasound and certain laboratory tests so as to be sure that it is just an age related change.
I recommend you to get TSH, FSH, Serum estradiol and fasting blood sugar.
Also transvaginal ultrasound to see for endometrial thickness.
In case everything is normal then I will give you progesterone for withdrawal and then you can see the pattern of your periods.
Eventually normal periodic pattern can resume or menopause can occur.
There seems nothing much to worry.
All the best

What could some of the abnormal things be? I feel a faint something in my left side but not sure if that is related?
Brief Answer:
ultrasound advised
Detailed Answer:
Hello mam, when a lady ovulates, after the release of ovum there is a cyst like structure which is formed and then that cyst resolves by itself by the time menstruation starts.
But when one misses period this cyst takes longer to resolve and that gives intermittent lower abdomen pain which may increase with movement.
But there is nothing to worry and if at all there is some minor problem that will be revealed by the transvaginal scan.
All the best.
