What Causes Morning Sickness And Nausea After Having A Meal?

default
Posted on Wed, 3 May 2017
Question: I made a salad for dinner last night and had a frozen dinner with chicken and broccoli. I ate the broccoli first then had two bites of the chicken and noticed that it tasted strange. I asked my husband to taste it. He spit it out and agreed it tasted strange. It had a chemical taste. I slipped the dinner in a baggie and rerturned it to the box it came in and put it in the fridge. My husband will return it to the store and ask them to find out what is wrong with it. I had no ill effects until this morning. I was exremely nauseated and had some cereal without milk, thinking that it might settle my stomach. My skin was cold & prickly and I was sweating so profusely that even my hair was wet. I had diarreah and vomited. I have never had food poisoning before and I don't know if I have it now. My assumption is that I just have to wait it out. I am a 76 year old woman in reasonably good health with arthritis and asthma. I am 5 ft 4" tall and weigh 110lbs. My asthma is not currently acting up. I hardly ever vomit. I never even had morning sickness when I was pregnant. I feel too shakey to go to the doctor. Can I just wait it out? I don't have a fever. Should I try to eat some crackers a little later? How long should I expect to feel this crummy?

Hi,

Thanks for your question on HealthcareMagic

I do understand your pain and discomforts

As per your history is concerned your problem might be due to contaminated food only as per your clinical history so you can do few things :

1)As you have diarrhea, fluids and electrolytes mineral such as sodium, potassium, and calcium that maintain the balance of fluids in your body lost to persistent diarrhea need to be replaced.so drink ORS solution after every bowel movement which is available in any drug store without any prescription.

2)Do a stool examination to ruled out any secondary infection present or not if present your doctor will add antibiotics.

3)If diarrhea that is not bloody and without fever then you can talk to your doctor regarding loperamide.

4)Bananas are easy on your stomach because they are easy to digest. Plus, being rich in potassium, they help your potassium stores depleted due to vomiting and diarrhea. Eating just one banana will also help restore your energy level. You can simply eat a ripe banana or make a tasty and healthy banana shake and drink it two to three times a day.

5)keep raw foods separate from ready to eat foods.

6)wash your hands, utensils and food surfaces often

7)cook foods to a safe temperature, you can kill harmful organisms in most foods by cooking them to the right temperature.

8)Refrigerate or freeze perishable foods promptly within two hours of purchasing or preparing them.

9)if you are not sure if food has been prepared, served or stored safely, discard it.

So do not worry at you will be alright within 48 hours

Hope that helps
