Question: May I please speak to Dr Spaho? He has been talking to me, and has been very helpful. He made a recommendation, and I would like to talk to him more. I have been to the local hospital since, to Accident & Emergency. They hardly opened my mouth and simply said it all looks fine there. As a kid I was frequently looked at for my tonsils and know what it is like, if a doctor examines my throat. They also asked if I have weight loss and I said I dont think so and don't have difficulty swallowing. I used to have difficulty swallowing for years, and stomach issues incl black stool sometimes, i had episodes of throat bleeding. All in the past. My pain is 1 out of 10 at the moment- I see what I have as severe discomfort, neck back, lower lead and throat sore with cough almost 3 months. No improvement with anti biotics and prednosolone. The Accident & Emergency doctor said it is all my nerves, including the cough. I am not a doctor so would like to be checked for cancer. Whatever I have. My GP does not look at my throat. thanks I am very grateful

Brief Answer:
I would explain as follows.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again and thanks for the direct question.

I have read your new question and understand your concerns.

If the nerves are suspected to be affected and cause throat discomfort and difficulty swallowing, further examinations are necessary.

These include an evaluation and direct inspection by an ENT Doctor and brain imaging (MRI).

Discuss with your Doctor about getting further examinations.

Feel free to ask if you have further questions.

Take care.

Sorry doctor. I need to clarify that I have had a throat issue for around 10 weeks but there is no difficulty
swallowing. The throat itself is not getting worse. It is constant. I used to have difficulty swallowing and even episodes when I brought up blood from the throat, but that has gone for over a year. I have more discomfort
than pain. Does that make sense to you? The discomfort region is the back of the neck. It has spread to the lower
part of my head and to my back. The discomfort region moves around. It makes it hard for me to sit up and read on my laptop. I find it difficult to keep eyes open walking around. People feel something is wrong when they see me. the pain started around 10/10 around 5 mo ago, now it is around 1/10 (mild), Judging by these symptoms, do you feel throat and other cancers are unlikely? Would a brain scan check for cancers as well? What illness am I likely to have, in your opinion?
PS I will stop asking questions. I am thinking of working constructively on my problems. I am thinking of going out of my country for treatment, never done before. Thank you for all this assistance.

Hello again.

I read your follow-up question.

Since there has been a long time with these issues, the chances of any cancer are improbable.

A brain and neck MRI should give the necessary information about the correct diagnosis, and also exclude cancer.

Discuss with your Doctor these issues.

Feel free to ask if you have further questions.

Take care.

Thank you very much doctor. Yes my throat is not getting worse and worse since the problem started. When I have a bad night I think maybe I am dying. On better nights I feel its just chronic and not something too bad. .My neck problem goes up and down and only a doctor can diagnose me not myself. I have been hospitalized repeatedly here for days, with no diagnosis or treatment, and most others are getting these. Good if its not cancer, I feel I must move to a different country, which may be possible as it wont worsen much. The lady you referred me to said the doctors in Turkey are looking at my reports and they will take time. I am thinking seriously of visiting Turkey if they suggest treatments. I will let you know the outcome as you have been kind enough to refer me. You doctors are incredible for your time and patience on this website allaying patients anxieties.

As we discussed before, there is a need for a correct diagnosis in your case, and this can be achieved by a careful examination by the Doctor combined with appropriate tests and examinations.
