What Causes Mucus In Stool Post Unprotected Anal Intercourse?

default
Posted on Sat, 29 Nov 2014
Question: 8 weeks before, I had receptive a painful unprotected anal intercourse. I haven't tried anal intercourse thereafter. Until then, there is white mucus on my stool. Mucus is mainly at the tip of stool. My bowel movement frequency increased from once a day to twice a day for the first time in my life. But last week it is returned to, normal, once a day.

I had anal receptive intercourse several times in my life, but mucus and bowel movement increase are the first.

I suspect STD's (gonorrhea, chlamidya) or physical trauma.

What will be the most probable cause according to you? Which test will be required for a definitive diagnosis?

The tests for STD's tests are not routine tests in my country. Especially, rectal swabs are unpopular. What will be the side effects of using antibiotics without diagnosis?

Brief Answer:
Likely due to friction or irritation

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for query. I am Dr Bharatesh D Basti answering your query.
I have gone through the details.
The main symptoms is mucus stools as per description. You had fissure earlier.
It is common to have fissure and friction in people having anal intercourse.Mucus can be due to friction or irritation. It appears there is no fever, pain , any lymph node swelling, ulcers etc.
By this 8 week period it should have manifested with some symptoms if std.
You can continue same treatment and if pain or irritation can use lignocaine gel for topical application.
You can go for rectal swab or culture if in doubt of infection. Also examination by doctor for any fissure or ulcer or sigmoidoscopy
Prescription is usually necessary for antibiotic.
If your doctor can give antibiotics course you can go for it. But complete dose and schedule as to be taken.
One disadvantage of taking antibiotics is diagnosis will be unknown or masked if there is any infection.
You can get back for any clarification
Thank you
